OXYGEN ACCESS OXYGEN FORENSICS SOFTWARE

So unfortunatley I was unable to test out there software as well to see if there was any advantages with the software over Oxygen.

OXYGEN ACCESS OXYGEN FORENSICS INSTALL

The OS did not recognise the device, I used WINE which is a package for installing windows programs to see if the driver would magically install however this was a dead end as the software did not run on the system at all. When this was installed onto the computer immediately there was an issue.

So I downloaded there free Opensource tool/Operating System (OS) which is known as Santoku Linux which has the OSE (Open Source Edition) of AFLogical installed. I think the answer for this one is possibly viaForensics who has developed a tool called AFLogical which is used for analyzing android mobile phone devices. So after finding this out and I got curious at the minute who is the potential rival for Oxygen. *Note to myself maybe what I should do is take an image of the phone when this is not rooted and then another one when the phone is rooted to see what the difference is* However once again the phone has to be rooted so that this can be completed as the phone logs as stored within the log.db. I think this is something that should be looked into deeper within my research.Īs well as attempting to try and see if I can get any deleted messages from the phone I also attempted to try and get deleted contacts from the call log. But you have to ask the question what happens if an investigator roots the phone. Wouldn't this technically interfere with the evidence on the phone? If you think about it the phone is being tampered with, and rooting the phone could cause the data to be modified which may not be usable in a court of law. This notified me that this information is in a database called mmssms.db file, but to access this the phone must be rooted so that the file can be accessed which is interesting in a way as they don't state that this needs to be done at first, only when you look for more information and also that you must also have a copy of SQLlite so that you can view the database. I then consult a document by Oxygen which is called "Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 - Deleted Data Traces". *Scratches head* and think to myself this must be somewhere, which i couldn't find. However when I took a new image of the phone to my surprise there wasn't anything there. Now after completing this I assumed (which i shouldn't of done) that Oxygen Forensic Suite would of been able to bring this back.

Well been looking around more of the software today and thought to myself hey what would happen if I delete an SMS as apparently there is a feature that states that it is able to retrieve deleted data from the phone.
